is there a specific Japanese rice you use?
If im using chinese soya, would that be light or dark soya?

I cooked this and modified using alternatives for the gravy. Without using mirin or dashi, the result is super yummy!! Much better than yoshinoya really!! adding the Bonito is great idea! Now I can customise my gyudon more gravy, lots of onions and beef YaY! Thanks to this video! It's one of the simplest and easy to follow gyudon video out there :)

This looks so delicious. One of my favorite rice bowl recipes. I feel like I can never find thinly-sliced beef with the right content of fat, though.

how does the mirin etc translate into measurment . 14/cup etc
i've noticed a lot of dons require mirin, sake or wine, can these be replaced with something else? (sake and mirin because it isn't available in the netherlands and wine because i really hate the taste)

hi ezjapanesecooking, I just want to ask how many bonito flakes did you put in this dish. hahaha im not into cooking but I love this food and gyudon is pricey here in the philippines. also what do you mean by parts of wine mirin and water? is it 1/4cup? thanks
when it's that hot you can put a raw egg on top it soft boils it 😀 I love it with egg
it looks so easy. I'm going to try it tonight. also, did you use high heat? or medium high?
can i skip red wine?
