    NO! NO! NO! NO! This is like someone watching someone desecrate a masterpiece. Julia Child would never do Coq Au Vin this way. Please lady stick to your garbage taste of home recipes and leave the classics alone.

    I'm vegan but I always buy chicken thighs for my family. I don't get people buying bland breasts that are costly and a couple cost more than a whole bird!.

    Julia Child would NEVER use a cooking wine. All great chefs say use a wine you would want to drink.

    "Cooking wine?!?" Surely you know the suggestion from Julia Child that you should always cook with a wine that you'd be willing to drink yourself. I understand this video is obviously sponsored by Holland House cooking wine, hence the numerous product plugs…and it is a nice looking recipe and dish. But there are a number of differences between this and the original recipe from Julia Child, including the way your pearl onions are boiled, rather than sauteed as she notes in her original cookbook "Mastering the Art of French Cooking;" as well as stewing the chicken in water, rathern than entirely in wine. And then there's the flambe, which a lot of people do omit because of the obvious risks involved with using fire in the kitchen. This It's a decent enough dish and video, and anyone who makes coq au vin this way would certainly be pleased with the result. But is this "Julia Child's coq au vin?" I doubt it.

    Looks awesome. I make this myself. The one thing I would change is using real red wine rather than the cooking wine. The cooking wine contains too much sodium and doesn't give you the the dark earthy flavor the red wine gives. Always cook with wine that you like too drink.

    Thank you for sharing this recipe. I will use a good French wine to cook this dish instead of cooking wine . It makes a big difference.
